Words for Reflection

"All the twists I have taken in life have led me to a simple,
ageless truth, one that sparked an incredible
transformation in how I view life: all our countless
desires, our insatiable longings, our fleeting gratifications,
and our inevitable frustrations arise from a single origin:
we've forgotten the love that lies dormant within us.
Discovering and awakening that love is our greatest need.
By its nature this love offers both fulfillment and the
empowerment to become an instrument of change for
ourselves, the people around us, and our environment."

-Radanath Swami, The Journey Within: Exploring the Path of Bhakti Yoga

FAQ

Yoga is for everyone! You are welcome here and will reap the benefits of this practice no matter your age, race, body type, gender, political party, religion, occupation, past choices, or any other label that is used to describe who you are. You belong here. Give it a try and see what happens!

There are so many benefits to practicing yoga. Here are a few of our favorites, but we encourage you to find out for yourself and watch your list grow with each new practice.

We become lighter; we learn a replacement activity for when we would usually turn to habits that take us away from our highest selves; we learn to harness the magic of intentional breathing; increased compassion for ourselves and others; stress management; improved relationships; community; union with God; increased playfulness; increased courage; stronger, more flexible physical body; and a clearer, more vibrant subtle body.

Nope! Yoga is a system of practices such as physical postures, breathing techniques, meditation, chanting, and a philosophy of living that promotes physical and mental well-being. This allows each student to incorporate this wellness into their own religious or spiritual beliefs without contradiction. Yoga prepares the body and mind for devotion.
